11/18/2023 0 Comments Hike to manoa fallsWe were a bit disappointed with the flow of the water, as you can see in the picture, it wasn’t as abundant when you think of a waterfall. The scenery of the rainforest makes Manoa Falls a unique and beautiful adventure. The epicness of nature on display in the backdrop as Landon enjoys the walk. When hiking to waterfalls in Hawaii, please be aware of the bacterial disease ‘Leptospirosis’, more info here: The plus side to the rain is an abundant waterfall! Bring rain gear, protect your items appropriately, and always be conscientious of flash floods. With Manoa Valley being one of the wettest places on the island, be prepared for rain. The trail is great for beginning hikers – it is not too long, a straight forward path, and is well protected with shade. On that note, bring slippers/flip-flops (or even extra shoes) to change into after the hike. Wear old pair of shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty or even throwing away. We recommend this hike as part of our list of the top things to see and do on Oahu.The parking lot at the bottom of the trail has a small fee which cost $5. The contrast from the busy streets of Honolulu to the relaxing, green path through a tropical rainforest is an amazing experience. We did try to avoid this fee, but there were tons of no parking signs around. The attendant gave us a trail map and answered our questions about the hike. Please note that this fee may have changed. We chose to park our car in the parking lot just a few steps to the trail head The fee for parking there was $5. If you want to find and print online directions, then use the address of the nearby Lyon Arboretum at 3860 Manoa Road in Honolulu. On this Google map, you’ll see the end of Manoa Road. Note that Manoa Road splits into Manoa Road and East Manoa Road, stay to the left on Manoa Road at that split. To get to the Manoa Falls trail head, drive to the end of Manoa Road.
